Balconies
Juliet balconies fitted across Bromley and South East London
Open the bedroom doors on a summer morning without stepping out. A Juliet balcony is a guard rail fixed across a first-floor door opening, and it is the quickest way to make a room feel twice the size.
Styles
- Vertical bar the classic look, bars at 100 mm spacing on a flat or round top rail.
- Glass a single clear or tinted panel in a slim steel frame, or frameless with side fixings, for an unbroken view.
- Wire horizontal stainless cables for a lighter, more modern line.
- Curved and bowed a gentle outward bow gives a little more room to lean.
Made to the opening
Every Juliet is measured on site and made to the exact opening, fixed into the brickwork or the structural frame either side. Guarding height is 1100 mm to the regulations, and the fixings are specified for the wall you have, which matters on modern cavity walls and timber-frame houses.
Planning is usually simple too: on a house, a Juliet with nothing to step out onto is normally permitted development. Listed homes, Article 4 areas and flats can be different, as our answer on balcony planning permission in Bromley explains.
Finish and colour
Zinc-dipped first, then powder coated. Most are black or anthracite to match the doors, though we can match whatever RAL colour your frames are.
New doors or existing?
We fit Juliet balconies to new French doors being installed by your builder or window company, and to existing openings. If you are converting a window to a door we can coordinate with the builder so the balcony goes on the same week.
